Can I Back Out Of An Offer On A House?

A: At this point you most likely have a valid and legally binding contract instead of just an offer.

What happens if you back out will be dictated by the terms of the agreement between you and the seller.

If both parties are in agreement it is possible to change the terms of a written agreement.

You may back out assuming the lien holders have not accepted the offer. In short sales, that usually takes a very long time to get done. You may also back out for other reasons that should be within the purchase contract.

The real estate agent that presented your offer to the sellers should be helping you with this issue. If they are not, then make a compliant with their office manager or employing broker and make sure you get the assistance you need.
