Best seats in the house for July 4th festivities
Home to one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations in the country, Boston has some amazing real estate where people can enjoy the festivities.
While it may be a little late to close on these properties in time for this year’s celebration, we’ve picked a few prime spots that offer front-row seats to events leading up to the Fourth.
The Residences at Rowes Wharf just turned 20 years old but continues to be one of the most sought-after addresses in the city. Connected with the Boston Harbor Hotel, this 100-unit luxury condo building offers residents five-star hotel services, a gym and underground parking.
Currently listed are a two-bedroom unit for $1.5 million, another for $1.7 million, and a 1,520-square-foot penthouse unit for $2.5 million.
All units have spectacular harbor views and some even have views of the hotel’s “Movies by Moonlight” series of Friday night movie screenings on Atlantic Avenue. Tonight’s feature is “Double Indemnity.”
Over the weekend, Boston Harborfest will present the Extreme Sailing Series at Fan Pier, where 11 multi-hull sailboats from around the world will race each afternoon. Other activities include street performers, the Red Bull Air Force skydivers and fireworks.
For future Fourth of July celebration viewing, Fan Pier will soon be home to luxury residences overlooking the harbor. Developer Joe Fallon’s residences at Fan Pier will consist of about 150 condo units. An architect will likely be selected this fall, with construction to start in 2012.
The ultimate Fourth of July celebration is the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on the Esplanade, and Beacon Street in Back Bay offers residences with great views. While the “even numbered” condos, whose rear views overlook the Esplanade, rarely become available, there are several places currently for sale facing the Charles River.
At 124 Beacon St., there’s a stunning two-bedroom, plus study, penthouse priced at $1.25 million. This elevator building has a living room with a balcony. The home has a private solarium and roof rights.
Priced at $1.5 million, 166 Beacon St. is a sun-filled two-bedroom condo with a grand living room and dining room and intricately detailed ceiling. Owners here can watch the Boston Pops through three bay windows that frame views of the Esplanade below.
At 180 Beacon St., a three-bedroom, 2,194-square-foot condo with two valet parking spaces is priced at $2.85 million. This corner unit with a balcony has sweeping views of the Charles and the city.
Across town the Ritz-Carlton Towers, completed in 2001 by Millennium Partners, offers spectacular views of the fireworks from upper-floor units facing the Boston Common. Two available condos that offer some of the best vantage points are Unit 25C, a 2,707-square-foot, three-bedroom condo selling for $3.4 million and an “E” unit on the 34th floor with 3,246 square feet, four bedrooms and a balcony, that’s listing for $5 million.
